Tuesday, 6 May 2014:

Give Local DeKalb County - givelocaldekalbcounty.org is a national event with local impact.  We are joining hundreds of communities across the county in a one-day on-line giving challenge on May 6 to raise funds for local causes.  

Between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, donors from around the world can log on to givelocaldekalbcounty.org/#npo/dekalb-area-womens-center and make a donation to DeKalb Area Women’s Center. A minimum donation is $25 and must be made online with a credit card. Donations will be amplified with $20,000 matching funds from the DeKalb County Community Foundation distributed proportionately based upon donations per DeKalb County organization.

Event Spotlight: Lincoln Highway Buy-Way

Lincoln Highway Buy-Way

The Lincoln Highway will be celebrating its centennial this year.  100 years of transcontinental automobile travel, all the way from New York City to San Francisco.  DeKalb's own Route 38 is part of the this historic roadway.  A fantastic interactive map was completed in 2012 by the Lincoln Highway Association.  Go check it out!

When you're done scrolling and zooming, go dig around in your attic or garage for stuff to sell at the Lincoln Highway Buy-Way.  Surprisingly, it's not the world's longest yard sale... but it may be the world's best yard sale.  For $5 you can rent a parking space in our parking lot and join our community yard sale.  You can rent a single space or multiple spaces, and the fee gives you the space for all three days of the sale.  Concentrating local sellers in one place makes our sale a must-see destination for buyers, so bring your best stuff and lots of sunscreen!  Your space rental fee supports the DeKalb Area Women's Center's mission and helps bring educational programs to your community.
