The Benefits of Membership

Memberships are such an important part of the support we receive from the community.  The annual fees help us bring educational programs to the community as well as cover operating costs.  The fees are $10 for a student membership, $25 for a standard membership, and $75 for a premium membership with DAWC commemorative print.

The benefits of becoming a member of the DeKalb Area Women's Center are varied.  They begin with the sense of belonging- that feeling of being a part of something for the greater good, of helping make the world a better place- and they don't end there.  All members receive the bi-monthly newsletter mailed to their address.  This newsletter is filled with news about the Center, recaps of past events and previews of upcoming ones, columns, and other articles and information.  Members are also invited to contribute to the newsletter in the column "What Women Need to Know".

Members are also welcome to give presentations on Friday evenings showcasing their interests, vocations  and avocations.  They are part-owners of the permanent art collection and the 1917 historic site and have a voice in the organization.

Members also receive a discount on room and building use fees.  Contact us for the community space fee structure and hold your next meeting or event in a unique vintage setting!

Premium members receive an additional benefit: an exclusive, limited-edition art print.  This broadside is a triple wood cut print designed, carved, and inked by former director of the NIU School of Art Adrian Tio.  It features a poem composed by Charter Board Member Becky Parfitt and would make a lovely addition to your home or business.

In addition to paid memberships, there is a work-exchange membership program.  After the completion of eight hours of work for the DAWC, the volunteer becomes a standard member.  This is a great way to get involved and get to know your community resource!
